Small and Medium Enterprises Corporation is the focal point of APEC SME Working Group in Papua New Guinea because it is the lead statutory authority in the Ministry of Commerce and Industry mandated under the SME Corporation Act 2014 to develop and promote micro, small and medium enterprises in Papua New Guinea

Bilum Project

DFAT in Canberra had parked the funding with International Trade Center (ITC) in 2014 under Women and Trade and further down to Pacific Women Empowerment program. PNG is one of the countries and as a result Bilum Export Promotion Association (BEPA) was established in 2015 as a vehicle for bilum weaving groups can be a member to the association for sales of bilums both in country and off shore. ITC is managing the project from Geneva.

1.SMALL ENTERPRISE DEVELOPMENT (SED)

SED involves delivering of non-financial services including; i. Establishment of SME Information and Advisory Centers ii. Undertake Provincial Industry Profiling (PIP) iii. SME Baseline Survey

Future Projects

We anticipate to roll out SMEIAC projects in all the Provinces by 2020 Conduct SME Baseline Survey annually and Undertake Provincial Industry Profiling every 2 – 3 year time.

Business Development Service

Business Development Service (BDS) is the lead Division with the Corporation responsible for promotion and development of SME sector through a range of product initiatives and activities which includes;
