SME Corporation will contribute to the APEC process in 2018 through delivery of one Capacity Building workshop and two mandatory SME working group meetings in Port Moresby in September 2018 they are:
The policy dialogue aims to bring together expert international speakers and participants from APEC economies to partake in an interactive workshop where participants, particularly from developing economies can learn from the experiences/best practices from other APEC economies and acquire knowledge and skills which will allow them to formulate specific policies to support MSMEs in their home countries tap into regional markets.
The aim of the SME Working group is to encourage the development of MSMEs and build their capacity to engage in International Trade. SME Working Group Meetings are hosted twice in an APEC year. PNG will host this 47th SMEWG Meeting after the 46th Brunei
The SME Ministers meetings is held annually after 2nd SMEWG meeting in September each year, APEC SME Ministers during this meeting go over the SME Working Group’s work programs throughout the APEC year and offers input or suggestions where necessary, whilst also endorsing new work streams, initiatives, and proposals put forward by the members of the SME Working Group.
