Welcome to the official website of the Small and Medium Enterprises Corporation of Papua New Guinea. In this website, we hope to disseminate useful information about the work of the SMEC as well as the all-important Small and Medium Enterprise (SME) sector of the economy.

• The SMEC was established in 2014 as a Commercial Statutory Organisation (CSO) through the SME Corporation Act of 2014. Mandated by this Act, it became operational in February 2015. SME Act became effective as of February 10th 2015. The SME Corporation is a government statutory authority under the Department of Trade and Industry. Its main aim is to promote small and medium enterprise to enable indigenous Papua New Guineans to be self-sufficient, thus improving their standard of living and contributing to the development of the country
